About IFAC


Application Process

Applicants are required to submit information to Compliance staff that explains the applicant's legal status, its role and responsibilities with regard to the accountancy profession and the SMOs, and its operation and governance structure. Applicants must be supported by a nomination from an existing IFAC member.

Applicants

Applicants must complete the following forms.

  • The Application for IFAC Membership seeks general information about the applicant's history, operation and governance structure and interest in becoming an IFAC member.
  • Applicants must complete Parts 1 and 2 of the IFAC Member Body Compliance Program.
    • Part 1 of the Compliance Program, Assessment of the Regulatory and Standard-Setting Framework questionnaire, seeks fact-based information about the regulatory and standard-setting framework in the applicant's jurisdiction with regard to financial reporting and auditing and the professional accountants represented by the applicant.
    • Part 2, SMO Self-Assessment Questionnaire, seeks detailed information about the applicant's role with regard to auditing and accounting standards, accountancy education, ethics, investigation and discipline, and quality assurance.
  • An applicant must also complete a Declaration of Intent indicating its intent to meet the requirements of IFAC membership.
